We come to important categories and hopefuls that sets the bar and leads the way. Part II explores more possibilities with the ballots nominating of one of the unforgettable falling under the cracks kind that hopefully get a reach up in the race for the golden one:
Best Actor
Locks: Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart); George Clooney (Up in the Air), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker)
In the leading man category, some contenders have very little time but effective to carry it all or is in practically every scene of the film. In this years case, most of the best have been noticed but a little film over the summer that is complicated from the outside but simple on the inside had one of the best performances of the year that none of the critic awards seem to nominate or notice.

In Duncan Jones' sci-fi character study "Moon", Sam Rockwell brings the idea of a stranger in a strange consolidated land whos days are counting down, or so he thinks but slowly but surely, he's of the opinion that there is something more to this odd occurance all the way up there! Sam had the right kind of emotion, interaction with a robot as well as the right kind of punch that borders fits of paranoia. The Academy may try to honor the past unhonored but Rockwell's performance in Moon should certainly be honorable in the Academy's eyes.
BEST ACTRESS
Locks: Meryl Streep (Julia and Julia or It's Complicated), Carey Mulligan (An Education), Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
Good deeds and period pieces seem to be at the top of the pack for the Oscar hopefuls and out of one such period comes a packed movie of its own and a lead of the film that has been pushed in a few papers, but hasn't popped up in any key races nomination pool.

Melanie Laurent's character was the trigger point for the entire duration of "Inglorious Basterds" and her tale is one that is expressive and of another language, but the expressions she gave even with a glare or a response without a word were utterly priceless, and try to come up with the plan she had cooking up in that big place! Am I the only one that laughs at her name owning the theater knowing that Rod Taylor is in this film? And who can pull off that vision with David Bowie's Cat People theme in the background? I think, besides the great Christoph Waltz, there's room for one more. Take a look at THIS Inglorious face when the nominations are announced!
When we return, Part III explores all the support you can get in the last 2 main categories plus a few other mentions, lil comments for a few of the other categories
Hats off when the lights come down!
